Birthday Ensemble

Good Morning my friends! Today’s post includes a card and matching tag. The tag was created for an awesome group of gals that I met through a workshop. We decided to get together once a month and stamp. At Teresa’s workshop we learned to do embossing and created this birthday tag. The black, red, and gold combination is very sophisticated and elegant. We had a great time getting to know each other, learning, and stamping.

The matching card was created for Challenge #25 at Late Nite Stampers. The challenge this week was a great sketch by Mary Jo Price-Williams. Sharing in the responsibilities of the design team has been so much fun.

Hope you enjoy this set and take a little time this weekend to get in some stamping fun. My son and I plan to visit the pool and soak up a little sunshine.

Birthday Card & Tag

Birthday Tag:

Begin with a base of Real Red Textured cardstock 3″ x 4″. Next layer begins with 2 3/4″ x 3″ Brushed Gold, then 2 5/8″ x 2 7/8″ of Basic Black. Wrap the bottom with a 3 1/2″ piece of Real Red ribbon and stamp the sentiment with Versamark in the upper left corner. Emboss with gold embossing powder. On a scrap piece of Real Red and Brushed Gold, stamp the heart with versamark and again, emboss with gold embossing powder. Trim each with paper snips. Attach the Real Red heart to the Brushed Gold heart with dimensionals. Attach to the tag base. Finally, measure over 1″ and down 1/2″ on each top corner and cut connecting the dots. Attach large eyelet in center with black cord.

Birthday Card:

Begin by folding in half a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ base of Real Red textured cardstock. Next layer begins with a 3″ x 4 1/2″ Brushed Gold, and then a 2 7/8″ x 4 3/8″ Basic Black. The focal point is 2 7/16″ x 2 5/8″ in Brushed Gold stamped with the heart and embossed in gold. The corners are notched with the ticket corner punch. Attach to layered piece centered on the right side. Wrap the layered piece with Real Red ribbon and tie knot. The heart is stamped a second time in Versamark on a scrap piece of Real Red and embossed in gold. Trim with paper snips, and attach to Brushed Gold heart with dimensionals. Stamp the sentiment in Versamark on a scrap piece of Basic Black and emboss in gold. Cut into strip, bend to form banner and attach across heart with small glue dots. The 5/16″ Jumbo brads were covered with Versamark and dipped in gold embossing powder and heated. They were spaced 1/2″ apart to the left of the heart. Finally, attach the finished layered piece to the card base with dimensionals.

Project Recipe:
Stamps: Always, Sincere Salutations
Cardstock: Real Red textured, Brushed Gold, Basic Black, Real Red
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: Real Red ribbon, Black Cord, gold embossing powder, Ticket Corner Punch, Jumbo brads, paper snips, Jumbo eyelets, dimensionals

Bold Sketch

The inspiration for this one came from Karen’s Sweet Sunday Sketch and the colors from a swimsuit I saw at the pool yesterday. What a fun summer card. My son just loves the water. A day at the pool hanging out with his friends and flips off the high dive are the greatest. I enjoy the warm sunny weather and watching him laugh and play. It’s also a great place for inspiration as you quietly watch what’s happening around you.

Bold Sketch

The card begins with a 6″ x 6 1/2″ Orchid Opulence card base folded in half. Next the sentiment was stamped in White Craft ink and embossed. The three circles were placed on the upper left side with the piercing template and a white gel pen. The next white layer measures 2 1/8″ x 6 3/8″. The Pink Passion, Cameo Coral and Orchid Opulence 1 3/16″ squares were stamped in White Craft ink and embossed. The ribbon is the new Melon Mambo. It was a fun, quick card that would be great to demo at a workshop.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Fresh Cuts
Ink: Whisper White Craft, White Gel Pen
Cardstock: Orchid Opulence, Cameo Coral, Pink Passion, Whisper White
Accessories: Melon Mambo Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

Birthday MOJO

Today’s post follows the MOJO92 sketch and was created for an upcoming birthday of a friend. The new Dusty Durango was paired with Not Quite Navy for a great guy card. Nothing like a mix of a little old and new to create a striking card. Hope you will get your MOJO going and play along.

MOJO92

To create this card begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ card base of Basic Black. The next layer uses a 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Dusty Durango and a 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Urban Garden. The seam was wrapped with the Black Ribbon from the Ribbon Originals collection. The main image was stamped in Black Stazon on watercolor paper. Color was applied with a Aqua Painter in Not Quite Navy, Basic Gray, Basic Black, and Dusty Durango. Highlighted the windows, crome, and hearts with Crystal Effects, and the border was made using the scallop punch. The main image measures 2 3/8″ x 3 1/2″ and the circle was punched with the 1″ round punch. The finishing touch was done with the heart to heart punch in the lower right corner.

June Card Kit Announcement

The June card kit is now available for purchase. The kit uses the Razzle Dazzle stamp set and the new Razzleberry Lemonade Designer paper. Create this treasured keepsake box and matching set of four cards as a gift for someone special. The box is sturdy and made from chipboard sold in the Stampin’ Up catalog. The top is a mat that holds a 3.5 x 5.0 photo of your special someone. The instructions include a supply list, cutting template, and color photos with step by step directions. It would also make a great class for a busy demonstrator.

When you join my team as a hobby demo or business demonstrator, each release is yours free of charge. It is my goal to help each of my team to be successful with their Stampin Up! endeavors. If you have been giving some thought to joining, hope you will give my team some consideration. Let me know if I can assist with any questions you might have. Looking forward to working with you.

Well here it is…

All About the Kids

The challenge this week at Late Nite Stampers is all about the kids. We were to create a card, scrapbook page or 3-d item. I’m learning to do more 3-d items. This is the area where I am most challenged. What a perfect opportunity to do a little practicing.

This one wears the new Razzleberry Lemonade Designer paper. The Melon Mambo is fast becoming my new favorite. I can’t seem to put it down. It will be available for purchase on July 1. Are you as excited about the new catalog? It will be here before you can blink. Reserve yours by the end of the month for $5.00. You will receive a gift certificate for $5 towards a $50 purchase within 90 days. Contact me by email to reserve yours today.

Well on to the project…

Cracker Box

It is an Animal Cracker box! Isn’t it just the cutest idea. I can’t take complete credit for this one. I was surfing the web several days ago and came across this tutorial and had to give it a try. This is my take on the project. Hope you enjoy. I thought it would make a great birthday treat for a little one.

The flap is notched and fits behind the brad to secure the closure. What a great idea. This one will have to be used again.

Project Recipe:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Phrases
Cardstock: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Razzleberry Lemonade DP
Ink: Melon Mambo
Accessories: Pumpkin Pie ribbon, Heart to Heart, Boho Blossoms, 1/2″ circle, and Trio Flower punches, Swirls Scribbles die, Filigree Brads, Jumbo eyelets

Happy Stampin,

Retiring Heartfelt Thanks

Well my first stamp set is retiring at the end of this month. I’m sorry to see it go. I normally sell all of my retired sets. I might hold on to this one for sentimental reasons.

Challenge #23 over at Late Night Stampers is to make three cards with different sentiments using a retiring set. I’m planning to create a box and share them with my son’s teacher tomorrow. Friday is the last day of school. He is so happy and can hardly wait for summer to begin. I had a great time making them. Hope you enjoy.

Polished Stone Technique

Today’s post is another polished stone technique card following sketch SC231 on Splitcoast Stampers. This card is made with scraps, and adds an Anniversary card to my stash. This sheet was my very first, and didn’t achieve the results I was after. I almost threw it away. Aren’t you glad it made the cut?

If you missed last months class or would like to learn this technique, please see my website for details. There is no fee for the class and new stampers are always welcome. If interested, send me an email with a RSVP.
