Sharing Friendship

There are several really close friends who share life with me. Each blesses my life in a unique way. I created a card for one of those special friends last night. Planning to take the time to share with them how special they are and how thankful I am for all they do today.

This one also qualifies for the MOJO Monday week 75. This will be my first link up. I’m really having fun following the card maps. Hope you enjoy!

friendship-from-the-heart

This one began with a Whisper White base. Layered with Chocolate Chip, Good Morning Sunshine DP, and Summer Sun. The focal image was stamped with Good Friends and Cheep Talk. These are really fun sets to work with. The heart and the flower centers were covered with Crystal Effects. The final touch was the Chocolate Chip ribbon bow. The inside uses the rub-ons.  I will be using those again! They were way to cool.

Trusting you enjoy a weekend filled with loving friends and family.

MOJO #74

I had fun with the MOJO sketch for my father-in-law earlier this week. I had to do another one today. Creating spring and summer cards the last two weeks has brought us a warm 65 degrees here in Clemmons, NC today. Wow what fun. My son was outside riding scooters and having a ball.

Well on to the card…

feelin-groovy

This one uses some of my new stuff! It began with a Summer Sun base. Next was Pacific Point and Good Morning Sunshine DP. The focal point was stamped with “Cheep Talk” on Whisper White. Those birds are the cutest. The bird was cut out and popped up on dimensionals. The flowers were stamped and cut out. I applied Crystal Effects to them to make them shine. The sentiment is from “Trendy Trees”. I added a little piercing and finished it off with a Kiwi Kiss striped grosgrain ribbon. Created with only Stampin’ Up! of course!

Hope you enjoy and have a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday

I worked on a card for my Father-in-Law today. I never have enough male birthday cards. I made this one and a couple more while I had all the materials out. I find I get more done if I go ahead and make a couple more while I’m at it. Half the work is pulling all the colors together. I used the MoJo Monday #74 sketch. I think it was last weeks. Ever wake up one morning and wonder where the time went? Well here it is…

Since I was sending this one out to family I used several of my retired papers. I began with a Baja Breeze base. The next layer was Basic Black, Soft Sky & Ghostly Greetings DP. The focal point was stamped with Loads of Love in Black Stazon on watercolor paper. I used an Aqua painter to do my fill in. I highlighted the hub caps, fenders, window, and hearts with crystal effects. I added a little piercing and a Baja Breeze ribbon to finish it off. I hope he enjoys it!

Grampa Bob, as he is known by my children is loved very much. He lives in New York, so we don’t get to visit as much as we would like.

Hope your day is a blessed one!

A Yellow Rose

Happy Monday. We enjoyed a beautiful dry and cold weekend here in Clemmons, North Carolina. I have been in the craft room today working on several projects. Thought I would share my favorite creation from today. I used several new items on this one.

The card began with a So Saffron base. The next layer was Chocolate Chip, Holiday Treasures, and Bella Rose DP accented with Old Olive. The focal point was stamped with “A Rose is a Rose” in Barely Banana and So Saffron. The buttons are the new Chocolate Chip corduroy. The leaves are a new sizzlet die “Little Leaves”. The sentiment is from the “Fresh Cuts” stamp set. I added a little piercing and finished it off with the So Saffron ribbon from the new Ribbon Originals. Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy!

Stampin’ for Soldiers Part 2

Today I want to share the second pattern for the Stampin’ for Soldiers project. This card features the Big Shot. The more I use it, the more I love it! It is so easy to create beautiful die cut pieces. Makes for an easy card assembly!

birthday-card-3

This little baby began with a Baja Breeze card base. The top portion was stamped with A Good Egg in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. Next a 1.25 inch strip of Baja Breeze was scalloped and attached 1/2 inch from the bottom. Then, a 2.25 inch strip of Close to Cocoa was wrapped in Old Olive ribbon at the top edge and attached. The next layer was a 3/4 inch strip of So Saffron DP, and then a 3/16″ strip of Old Olive that covered the seam. The sentiment from Fresh Cuts was stamped in Chocolate Chip. Finally, the flower and leaves were added. The flower center was made using a piece of chipboard covered with Baja Breeze. The holes were threaded with the new So Saffron Ribbon Originals.

What Mother wouldn’t  just adore this card from her special soldier? I’m having fun creating spring cards in the thick of winter. Makes a gal long for warmer weather.

Have a great weekend!

CLASS PREPARATION

Today I have been preparing for an upcoming Birthday Class. We will be making 2 each of 4 different Birthday cards. Today’s post previews one of these cards. I have been playing with one of my new sets Petal Pizazz. Doesn’t this card just scream spring? I can hardly wait.

birthday-card-4

To create this beauty, begin with a base of Pink Pirouette. Layer on a 1/2 inch strip of Certainly Celery and a 2 inch strip of Whisper White. Stamp the sentiment from Wow Flowers in Versamark and emboss in White. Next stamp the stem in Certainly Celery. The flower parts were stamped in Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, and Certainly Celery. Each piece was cut out with paper snips, layered with dimensionals, and topped with a pearl from the Pretties kit. Attach finished piece to stem. Finally, punch the bottom of card with scallop punch.

I’m sure you would be happy to share this one with a favorite friend or family member on their birthday. Hope you enjoy!

Happy stamping,

STAMPIN” FOR SOLDIERS

I am planning a charity event to stamp Mother’s Day cards for soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. The event is scheduled for March 14 at Calvary Baptist Church Scout Hut on the corner of Peace Haven and Country Club Roads from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. There will be 10 patterns to choose from. We plan to create 100 of each.

We would love to have you join us for this fun event. I have been working on patterns this morning. Check out my first one.

It was really easy and I know you can do it. I began with a very vanilla base. I then layered a 2″ strip of Kiwi Kiss. Next a 3″ circle of Rose Red. I cut the circle with the new Circle Scissor Plus. The focal piece was stamped with Bloomin’ Beautiful in Brown Stazon on Watercolor Paper. It was watercolored with Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Kiwi Kiss and Old Olive. It was mounted on Rose Red and Kiwi Kiss. The Rose Red was sponged and pierced in each corner. The sentiment was inked with a Chocolate Chip and Rose Red marker, stamped on Very Vanilla,  and matted with Kiwi Kiss. Finally the sentiment was attached to the card with stampin dimensionals.

Stay tuned for more patterns to follow.

Valentine Chocolates

What’s better than chocolates on Valentine’s Day? My children enjoy chocolate. This year I surprised them with hand decorated chocolates. Although eating them was a challenge. Each cleverly removed the chocolates without spoiling the wrap. They wanted to save it.

 valentine-chocolates

I began with 3 Hershey chocolate bars. They were wrapped in Candy Lane and Tea Party DP. I made a belly band for each stack of three from Close to Cocoa and Certainly Celery. Using the Big Shot, I cut Very Vanilla and Whisper White cardstock with the Stampin’ Up Top Note die. Each were stamped using the Happy Heart Day set and wrapped around the belly band. Next, the chocolate was wrapped in Chocolate Chip and Pink Pirouette ribbon. They were each embellished with chipboard covered in Designer Paper. To finish off Barbara’s I added a Pink Pirouette button from the Button Bouquet.

I hope you have a Happy Valentine’s Day and spend it with someone you love!

Black Tie Valentine

Thought I would share the Valentine card created for my husband.

I drew inspiration from an earlier creation for my Spring Summer Open House. I changed the colors up a bit to give it a masculine look.

I plan to share it with my husband on our date tomorrow. He has a tour of the North Carolina Wineries planned for the two of us. Can’t hardly wait!

The card began with a Basic Black base. Next, I layered Real Red, Basic Black, and Whisper White. The sentiment was from Always and stamped in Real Red on the Whisper White cardstock. To highlight the sentiment I pierced a row of holes to each side of the words. The heart from Polka Dot Punches was stamped on Real Red, embossed in white, and added with dimensionals. The final touch was to wrap the Whisper White strip in knotted Real Red grosgrain ribbon. To complete the card, the finished piece was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Hope your day is a wonderful one!

A Child’s Valentine

Happy Thursday!

My son, Joshua and I spent some time working on Valentine’s for his classmates. We decided to ink up the Happy Heart Day set.

kids-valentines

We purchased some miniature Hershey bars from the local grocery store and wrapped them in Bella Rose and Candy Lane DP. Our next step was to stamp some Pink Pirouette cardstock with Chocolate Chip. We then, water colored the details in Riding Hood Red. Each treat was then wrapped in Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon. The final touch was to add the tag to the ribbon using gold cord.

I’m sure Joshua’s classmates will enjoy his treats. Each one was addressed personally.

Hope you enjoy!
