Treasured Heart

Here’s a sneak peak for the treat class tomorrow night. It is a box of chocolate truffles my son will share with his new friend on Valentine’s Day. She likes pink and it is my favorite color so this one was fun.

Creative Tips:

1.The On Board Heart Book is easily converted to a box of chocolates. The book contains eight pages and that makes 4 boxes. Cover each page with Sending Love Designer Paper and then cut an 11″ strip of card stock 1 1/4″ and score at 1″.  Place a strip of sticky tape on the 1/4″ edge. Cut slits to the scored line every 1/4″ and glue to inside edge of box top and bottom. Fill with your favorite chocolate and decorate. I filled mine with Lindor Milk Chocolate truffles.

2. Decorating is a snap with the help of the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt and the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch. The felt and textured card stock together give it a homespun appeal.

3. To secure the box, wrap it in Melon Mambo Polka-Dot Ribbon.

4. To complete your project address it with a coordinating hand stamped tag. Mine is stamped in Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo with a couple of Heart to Heart punches from the Welcome Neighbor Designer Pack. Looking forward to creating this sweet keepsake treasure with you, hoping to touch the heart of your someone special this holiday season.

Up to the Challenge

This one answers the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 55 with Karen Giron and the Curtain Call Color Challenge Act 16 with Stacey Schafer. Hope you’ll have some time to play along this week.

Creative Tips:

1. The edges of both circles are worn and tattered. This effect is accomplished using the 7-sided distressing tool found in the Cutter Kit. This particular look is very trendy.

2. The stamp set is Wings of Friendship and only available with a $300. workshop or more. It is a lovely addition to any stamper’s collection.

3. The Large Oval Punch coordinates so nicely with so many sentiments. Punch a piece of scrap and use the reverse image as a guide to check fit for any message in the Idea Book and Catalog.

Scoop of Orange Sherbet

This is a sample made with a new set coming out in the Summer Mini Catalog called Sweet Scoops. I received it Friday and could hardly wait to begin playing around with it.

Creative Tips:

1. The orange sherbet scoop was stamped with Pumpkin Pie Classic Ink and covered with Crystal Effects. A Stampin’ Dimensional added just the right punch to make you wanna bite right in.

2. The Welcome Neighbor Paper stack from the Sale-A-Bration brochure and the 3/4″ Circle Punch created a festive birthday background to compliment the scoop.

3. The addition of the border completed the circle theme. It was done using the Scallop Edge Punch and the Crop-A-Dile. Just nest the smaller circle in each scallop and punch.

Piecing Case

This card is a case of an earlier card created for Valentine’s Day. It completes a three card set I plan to use for a hostess gift.

Creative Tips:

1. The double strand bow was made using the Bermuda Bay Polka-Dot Ribbon. To create the bow, just wrap the ribbon around a scrap of card stock and tie as usual. Slip the ribbon off the card stock and snip the loop in half. Cut each end at an angle a little longer than your first.

2. The Metal Edge Tags are a fun accessory. A coordinating background is a snap with the  1 3/4″ Circle punch. It is a perfect fit.

3. The cake jumps right out at you with the help of Stampin’ Dimensionals. It’s an easy way to add depth to any project.

4. A coordinating set of cards is a cinch with the help of the Sale-A-Bration set Happy Moments. It can be yours free with a $50.00 order before March 31.

Paper Piecing

More samples for the class. Maybe I’ll make a three card set for a hostess gift.

Creative Tips:

1. I replaced the stamped bow for a bow made with Crushed Curry Polka-Dot Ribbon. The ribbon has two sides, one is plain and the other is polka-dot. You choose what works best for your project. There were several patterns used in the designer paper so I opted for the plain.

2. The Welcome Neighbor Designer Pad offers great color combos. I chose this one from the tiny hearts within the paper. This pattern alone has a multitude of combinations.

3. Layer your punches to create a WOW sentiment. Finish it off with a Playground Button accessory. The button was threaded with a small strip of Bermuda Bay card stock.

Flowers for a Friend

Having fun working on cards for a class later this month.

Creative Tips:

1. The flowers were colored using a technique called paper piecing. We are going to learn to do this later this month. Want to join us?

2. When cutting small objects with your Paper Snips try turning your paper instead of your scissors. Following the line will be a snap.

3. Create a larger scallop using your 3/4″ Circle Punch cut in half.
